Mechanism of action of the drug:
Finasteride, a drug approved for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern baldness, works by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By reducing DHT levels, it helps alleviate the symptoms of BPH and slow hair loss. Although generally well tolerated, possible side effects include decreased libido and erectile dysfunction.
Side effects:
Finasteride can cause side effects such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and reduced ejaculate volume. Additionally, some users report depression, anxiety, or breast tenderness. Although rare, serious allergic reactions can occur.
